Dahlias
I place words where there aren’t any
Loss is all there is
Foolishness and love left undone are all that remain
When you stop, everything else stops also
Your heart stops
The story you’ve built stops
And it falls forever
There’s no ground to catch it,
Just a void
Of gravity and grief
pulling you down
further
deeper
darker
Then the ghosts start
Their only role is to visit you
To find you
In places… you’d rather not be
To seize your breath, and leave you gasping
And remind you
They’re stuck, with nowhere to go
Not living, nor dying
Purposeless… except in bemoaning their unfinished tale
Dismantling who you think you are
Dismantling the story, you tell yourself
Dismantling the story, you show others
we are your company now
and you
cannot
escape
There is nothing left
you’re here with us
locked in the cage of your making
till you find
The words
The mercy
For us. For yourself
For what cannot be
And your heart breaks
to be born anew.
