Wild
Why have you come calling?
Why now uncage
Your desire for me?
Why have you let me languish for years…
Only to arrive on my step in the rain.
I see the wild in you as in me,
I know that wound
I have carried desire’s struggle too
And I can see your foolhardy courage…
Whereas I would prefer a sacrificial leap
Not because I yearn for your death or peril
But for your truth and your gasping breath of life.
For the wildness in me could honor that…
That life in you would breathe trust into the life in me.
Now, instead you mistake my words of pity for hope.
Where is the one who believed in you as I wish to?
What have you done with her?
Is this how you have repaid her faith?
With arrogant desire?
More so, how have you fed your desire…
With courage or cowardice?
Folly, you say, I am sorry for you both.
Come out of the rain,
Stand up straight so I can see you fully.
I’ll dry you off, but then your journey must continue
Far beyond me
Now on your way…
Sing your song and cry out into the world
For another
Cry out even if there’s no reply
For the world is better for it
And the wild you seek might find you again
